About the event
The Emancipation Proclamation declared that enslaved Africans would be set free on January 1, 1865. This Juneteenth songfest celebrates the freeing of the final group of slaves who were delayed in receiving their freedom. We celebrate the music which tells the story of the newly freed people. It will be interwoven with spoken word. This is a participatory and educational event open to the community.
Beverages and refreshments at 6:00. Leaders from various choral ensembles will then teach and lead call and response songs.
✨ All are welcome. All voices matter. Please share with your groups, friends, and family.
