About the event
Join us for the First Annual Benefit Concert, featuring the remarkable Robert Young, a saxophonist praised for his musicianship, virtuosity, and authenticity. Fueled by a passion for classical saxophone, Robert connects with audiences through his “effortless expression and facile technique” (The Saxophonist Magazine). With an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator, Robert has performed with world-renowned ensembles such as the PRISM Quartet, The Crossing, and the Charlotte Symphony. His collaborations include performing on the GRAMMY Award-winning album *Gavin Bryars: The Fifth Century*, described by The New York Times as “superb” and “eloquent.”
Some highlights of Robert’s career include appearances with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, United States Navy Band, and residencies at prestigious institutions like the Curtis Institute of Music. His performances are hailed as “uncommonly expressive” and “technically prodigious” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
Currently an Associate Professor of Saxophone at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Robert Young has earned a reputation as both a talented performer and a dedicated educator. His students have received national recognition, and he regularly gives guest lectures and masterclasses across the country.
Special thanks to the UNCSA Kenan Institute for the Arts for their generous support in making this event possible. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable evening of music and celebrate the arts, all for a great cause!
