Opening Night at Delta Arts Center was nothing short of extraordinary. The reception welcomed an incredible turnout, with most of the exhibiting artists in attendance, creating an atmosphere that felt both celebratory and deeply personal.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when we invited artists to share brief remarks about their work. What followed was an intimate exchange between creators and community. Some artists reflected on their journeys—speaking candidly about growth, challenges, and evolution. Others shared their history of exhibiting with Delta, highlighting years of relationship and trust. A few simply spoke from the heart about what inspired their featured pieces. Each reflection added new layers of meaning to the artwork on view.

The room buzzed with movement and joy as guests engaged the work, embraced one another, and lingered in conversation. Laughter echoed between the gallery walls, and the walking tacos were the perfect complement to such a vibrant night—fueling fellowship and keeping the energy high.

More than just an exhibition opening, the evening was a celebration of community and culture. We honored a dynamic and diverse mix of artists—each representing themselves boldly while contributing to the rich landscape of North Carolina BIPOC art. It was a powerful reminder that Delta Arts Center continues to be a space where stories are shared, voices are uplifted, and history is actively being shaped.

History of the Invitational

The Delta Arts Center has long been dedicated to its mission of enriching the community through the promotion and preservation of the arts and humanities. As a cornerstone for cultural expression in North Carolina, we are particularly proud of our history of providing a platform for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists to showcase their voices and visions.

In keeping with our tradition of celebrating regional talent, we are thrilled to present "Invitational 2026 @ Delta Arts." This biannual juried exhibition is a cornerstone of our programming, bringing together a powerful collection of new works that represent the very best of our state’s diverse creative landscape.
