The Delta Arts Center participated in Reynolda’s Community Day, celebrating themes of community and history while connecting visitors to the city’s rich cultural heritage. The event coincided with the center’s fall exhibition, Camel City, which explores the history of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company during its 150th anniversary year. While the exhibition touches on the company’s history and influence on Winston-Salem’s development, the focus is on historical context, labor rights, and community impact—not smoking promotion.
At Community Day, Delta Arts Center offered a hands-on printmaking station where children could create their own prints. Using an image of a camel holding a paintbrush—designed and carved by Program Director Timothy Jeffers, inspired by the iconic Joe Camel—kids learned to ink and press their designs, bringing art and history together in a playful, educational experience.
The activity allowed young attendees to engage with both creative practice and historical storytelling, making Community Day a vibrant and interactive celebration of Winston-Salem’s past and present.
